Sustainability House at Barrett

The Sustainability House at Barrett is a student-initiated, student-run project that works to build a strong living and learning community of students with a common interest in understanding and acting upon a broad range of sustainability-related issues.  SHAB is one of the most comprehensive living and learning communities in the nation. The Sustainability House at Barrett features:

  • a greywater reuse system
  • energy and water use monitoring capabilities
  • experimental green roof
  • rooftop solar panels
  • an organic garden
  • cost saving dual-flush toilets
  • individual thermostat controls
  • public display of resources use in Barrett Honors College and other ASU facilities

Connected through buildings Sage North and Sage South, SHAB is home to 203 student changemakers from a variety of majors and disciplines dedicated to an eco-conscious lifestyle and making an impact on the world around them.
