Kinesiology

College:
College of Health Solutions
Campus:
Downtown

Many students in Kinesiology achieve careers as medical doctors, physicians assistants, physical therapists, occupational therapists and/or dentists. As all of these graduate programs that lead to these degrees are very competitive, the completion of a thesis leads to more success in acceptance in these programs due to the additional time with professors and knowledge and independence gained from completing a thesis.
Any Barrett student who is considering majoring or minoring in Kinesiology should contact the lead FHA.

Thesis/Creative Projects:

A typical thesis in Kinesiology is a research based study in conjunction with your director. It usually requires research ethics approval, data collection, and can be quantitative or qualitative. The minimal requirement is a two person committee although we strongly recommend a three person committee.

Academic Preparation:
Statistics and Research methods classes are strongly recommended.
Other Honors Opportunities:

KIN 494 Undergraduate Research is a great way to get started on your research with your director.
Honors contracts are created on a case-by-case basis but would ideally be directed at research, academic or community opportunities that will help you with your thesis or career.
