Title: Barrett in Paris and Florence

Description: In the summer of 2019, Barrett students will have the opportunity to experience the history, art, architecture, and literature of two of Europe’s great cities, Florence and Paris.  Coursework will focus on two periods in which those cities surged with creative energy and dominated the culture of Europe--the Renaissance of the sixteenth century and the “Belle Époque” of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  The cities themselves will become our classrooms as we study the works of Machiavelli, Galileo, Montaigne, Michelangelo, Picasso, Matisse, Rodin, and Rimbaud while visiting sites like the Duomo, the Uffizi Gallery, the Louvre, and the Eiffel Tower.
