Dr. King attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and Rutgers University where she earned a PhD in political theory and the history of political thought. Her previous research includes a study of 17th century natural law theory and its construction of the ‘individual’ for political contract theory. She is currently at work on a research project reading 5th century Athenian representations of Helen of Troy through the lens of contemporary feminist concerns about sexual violence, agency, and the discourses of patriarchy. Dr. King teaches the Human Event as well as upper division honors courses on classical drama and feminist theory, among others. In the Summer of 2016 Dr. King taught a Barrett honors study abroad class in Paris, Brussels, and Berlin which focused on national identity, materialization and the politics of colonialism and immigration. She has two large and unruly dogs.
