WELCOME CLASS OF 2022!

During the week leading up to Thursday, August 16 - the first day of fall classes – there are numerous events designed to support your transition to the university and honors college communities, along with dozens of fun activities and long-standing ASU traditions to check out!  To review a calendar of events occurring all across the university, visit https://eoss.asu.edu/welcome.  

Specific programs for Barrett students can be found in the tabs below, broken out by campus.

Priority move-in for Barrett Downtown students begins! Sparky’s Welcome Team, Barrett staff, and student leaders will be on hand to assist you. University Housing will assign you a move-in time slot. This information, along with all other details pertinent to housing, will be communicated via an e-mailed University Housing e-Packet.

Barrett CONHI Reception

3:30-4:30 pm
New and returning Barrett Downtown students in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation (CONHI) are invited to this exclusive event. CONHI faculty and Barrett staff will provide students with information on requirements and resources available to you!


Saturday, August 11
B-Town Fall Welcome
Sheraton Grand Phoenix
2 - 4 pm
New and returning Barrett Downtown students and their families are invited to attend this exclusive event hosted by Associate Dean Craig Allen. Refreshments will be served. New students will meet their peer mentoring group and families will have the opportunity to connect with staff and faculty to find out ways to support their students.


Saturday, August 25 – Sunday, August 26
Camp B-Town
Payson, AZ
First-year Barrett Downtown students are expected to participate in this unique experience. Students will depart on buses to Camp Tontozona in Payson, AZ the morning of Saturday, August 25th and will return to the ASU Downtown Campus at 5pm on Sunday, August 26th. Join your Barrett Downtown student leaders and staff for a fun-filled weekend. Transportation and meals will be provided.

Various Dates
Residence Hall Move-In
Thursday, Aug. 9:  Students attending the Barrett Poly retreat will move in from 6-9 pm.   As soon as possible, please request an early move in date in the ASU Housing portal online.   (If you are an out-of-state student attending Session 8 of Fulton E2 camp prior to attending the Barrett retreat, you will request an earlier move in.)  For questions regarding move in, please email JBrady@asu.edu.
Saturday, Aug 11:  If you have a conflict and cannot attend the Barrett retreat, you will move into your space on Saturday morning.

Barrett-Polytechnic Retreat
Prescott, Arizona
The Barrett students at Polytechnic will attend a weekend retreat in Prescott, AZ.   This will be a fun opportunity to meet fellow honors students at Polytechnic, to learn about Barrett resources and opportunities, and to relax a bit before classes begin.   All new Barrett Polytechnic freshmen attend the retreat.  Register at www.tinyurl.com/BHCpolyretreat2018For questions regarding the Barrett Poly retreat, please email Brady.Hamilton@asu.edu.

Barrett Family Reception

The Barrett Family Reception will allow the families of new Barrett students to mingle with one another and to meet the college’s leadership, staff, and faculty in an informal atmosphere.  For questions regarding the Barrett Family Reception, email BarrettParents@asu.edu

Program: 11:00 - 12:00 pm
New Barrett students attend this signature Barrett event on the Tempe campus.   The deans, faculty fellows, staff, and current students will address many topics about the honors experience in what will be the first activity that brings together the entire class of 2022.  For questions regarding student transportation from the Poly campus, please email JBrady@asu.edu.

Be sure to attend the activities hosted by the college of your academic major, and the All ASU Sun Devil Welcome at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe.

 

Thursday, August 16
First day of classes

Updates to the Barrett calendar will be posted to http://barretthonors.asu.edu.   Click the tab for Polytechnic campus events.  Be sure to also check the Fall Welcome Schedule for all of the campus-wide events and activities on the Polytechnic campus! 

Move in for the Barrett Residential Community on the ASU Tempe campus is scheduled for Saturday, August 11th and Sunday, August 12th! Depending on building and floor, each student will receive a specific day and move-in window. This information, along with all other details pertinent to housing (e.g. where to check-in, what to bring, what not to bring, etc.) will be communicated in early July via an e-mailed University Housing e-Packet.

Barrett Family Reception
Memorial Union, Arizona Ballroom
6:15pm -7:15pm
While students are taking part in the Barrett Beach Blast, we invite incoming parents and families to attend our Barrett Family Reception. This event offers families to the opportunity to interact with Barrett leadership, staff, and faculty in an informal atmosphere. Representatives from numerous departments such Advising, the Office of National Scholarship Advisement, Residential Life, and others will be in attendance. The Barrett Family Reception will take place immediately following the ASU Family Reception, taking place from (time is TBD). Light refreshments will be provided. Students are invited to an organization/resource fair where they will be able to participate in fun activities, speak with officers of the Barrett student organizations, and learn more about the unique honors community. For questions regarding the Beach Blast, e-mail Ellyse.Crow@asu.edu.

August 12th – Move In & Parent’s Reception. Parent’s Reception is from 5 to 6 pm in the University Center Building.

August 13thBarrett Family Reception in the Memorial Union, Arizona Ballroom from 6:15 - 7:15 pm.

August 16th – Freshmyn/Mentor Experience. Meet the Barrett Mentors and learn more about the Barrett West community. 8 am to 5 pm. La Sala Ballrooms. Registration is required and will begin in July.

August 19th – West Night @ Westgate. Shuttles will run from campus to this entertainment district. 4 pm to 10 pm.

August 24th – West Involvement Fair. 11 am to 2 pm on Fletcher Lawn.

August 26th – Opening Night. Required for all Barrett West students. The evening includes academic breakout sessions, general assembly, and social mixer. 5 pm to 9 pm. Registration is required at http://tinyurl.com/openingnight2017
