WELCOME CLASS OF 2021!

During the week leading up to Thursday, August 17 - the first day of fall classes – there are numerous events designed to support your transition to the university and honors college communities, along with dozens of fun activities and long-standing ASU traditions to check out!  To review a calendar of events occurring all across the university, visit https://eoss.asu.edu/welcome.

Priority move-in for Barrett Downtown students begins! Sparky’s Welcome Team, Barrett staff and student leaders will be on hand to assist you. University Housing will assign you a move-in time slot. This information, along with all other details pertinent to housing, will be communicated via an e-mailed University Housing e-Packet.

New and returning Barrett Downtown students in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation are invited to this exclusive event. Connect with peers and learn more about the ways in which your community can support you.

New and returning Barrett Downtown students and their families are invited to attend this exclusive event hosted by Associate Dean Craig Allen. Refreshments will be served.

Barrett Family Reception
Memorial Union, Arizona Ballroom
6:15 - 7:15 pm

While students are taking part in the Barrett Beach Blast, we invite incoming parents and families to attend our Barrett Family Reception.  This event offers families to the opportunity to interact with Barrett leadership, staff, and faculty in an informal atmosphere.  Representatives from numerous departments such Advising, the Office of National Scholarship Advisement, Residential Life, and others will be in attendance.  The Barrett Family Reception will take place immediately following the ASU Family Reception, taking place from 6:15-7:15pm. Light refreshments will be provided.  For questions regarding the Barrett Family Reception, please email BarrettParents@asu.edu.

Prescott, AZ

First year Barrett Downtown students are expected to participate in this unique experience. Students will depart on buses to Camp Pinerock in Prescott, AZ the afternoon of Friday, August 18th and will return to the ASU Downtown Campus at 5pm on Saturday, August 29th. Join your Barrett Downtown student leaders and staff for a fun-filled weekend. Transportation and meals will be provided.

First day of classes

Students attending the Barrett Poly retreat will move in on Thursday, 8/10 during the evening hours.   If you have a conflict and need to arrive earlier during business hours, please email JBrady@asu.edu to notify.  (Please note that Fulton Schools of Engineering students attending the Session 8 E2 camp will request an earlier move in – Fulton will provide additional information and directions.)  If you cannot attend the Barrett Retreat, please plan to move in on the morning of Saturday, August 12 during general campus move in. 

The Barrett students at Polytechnic will attend a weekend retreat in Prescott, AZ.   This will be a fun opportunity to meet fellow honors students at Polytechnic, to learn about the Polytechnic program, to make big plans for the coming year, and to relax a bit before classes begin.   All new Barrett Polytechnic freshmen attend the retreat.  Please see the enclosed document for additional information on how to register.  For questions regarding the Barrett Poly retreat, please email JBrady@asu.edu. 

The Barrett Family Reception will allow the families of new Barrett students to mingle with one another and to meet the college’s leadership, staff, and faculty in an informal atmosphere.  For questions regarding the Barrett Family Reception, email BarrettParents@asu.edu

New Barrett students attend this signature Barrett event on the Tempe campus.   The deans, faculty fellows, staff, and current students will address many topics about the honors experience in what will be the first activity that brings together the entire class of 2021.  For questions regarding student transportation from the Poly campus, please email JBrady@asu.edu.

Be sure to attend the activities hosted by the college of your academic major, and the All ASU Sun Devil Welcome at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe. 

Updates to the Barrett calendar will be posted to http://barretthonors.asu.edu.   Click the tab for Polytechnic campus events.  Be sure to also check the Fall Welcome Schedule for all of the campus-wide events and activities on the Polytechnic campus!  

Move-in for the Barrett Residential Community on the ASU Tempe campus is scheduled for Saturday, August 12 and Sunday, August 13.  Depending on building and floor, each student will receive a specific day and move-in window. This information, along with all other details pertinent to housing (e.g. where to check-in, what to bring, what not to bring, etc.) will be communicated in early July via an e-mailed University Housing e-Packet.

Thursday, August 17 is the first day of fall semester classes!

 

 

August 12th – Move In & Parent’s Reception. Parent’s Reception is from 5 to 6 pm in the University Center Building.

August 13thBarrett Family Reception in the Memorial Union, Arizona Ballroom from 6:15 - 7:15 pm.

August 16th – Freshmyn/Mentor Experience. Meet the Barrett Mentors and learn more about the Barrett West community. 8 am to 5 pm. La Sala Ballrooms. Registration is required and will begin in July.

August 19th – West Night @ Westgate. Shuttles will run from campus to this entertainment district. 4 pm to 10 pm.

August 24th – West Involvement Fair. 11 am to 2 pm on Fletcher Lawn.

August 26th – Opening Night. Required for all Barrett West students. The evening includes academic breakout sessions, general assembly, and social mixer. 5 pm to 9 pm. Registration is required at http://tinyurl.com/openingnight2017
