38 Barrett students spent three weeks in June experiencing vibrant Mediterranean lifestyles in Greece and Italy. While studying politics, travel writing, and modern cultural identity, they visited Athens, the birthplace of democracy and site of the Acropolis with a daytrip to Delphi; Crete, the largest Greek island, with daytrips to Knossos and Chania; and Rome, the eternal city where they lived blocks away from the Pope and enjoyed visits to the Vatican and Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum and Roman Forum, the hilltop town of Orvieto, Cinecitta Film Studios, and Bomarzo, Italy’s 16th century park of monsters.
