Juneteenth celebrates black emancipation, but it falls after the date of the Emancipation Proclamation and before the ratification of the 13th Amendment. Hence it's worth asking, which, if any, of these dates marks the end of slavery in the United States. Further, as the 48th state, all of these dates come long before Arizona's statehood. Is emancipation then largely unimportant in the history (and present) of Arizona and the Southwest? Spoiler: no.
