Have an idea for an Honors Thesis? Feeling confident you are on the right track? No idea at all but you are good at thinking on your feet? Come brainstorm with ASU faculty and the Honors Colloquium! Come with nothing, something, or whole plan, and you will leave our workshop with a refined and improved topic. Oh, and there will be food!
This workshop is not a one-way information session, but a structured dialog centered around developing your project. Hosted and designed by the students of Barrett's Honors Writing Colloquium, the "Flipped" Honors Thesis Workshop has a simple and fun format. Students will present brief "elevator talks" of their proposed thesis projects to small groups, typically composed of two students, a faculty member, and a Honors tutor, who will ask questions to refine the topic. After 5-7 minutes with each group, the student will switch to the next group. By pitching your project to multiple faculty members, Honors Faculty, and our trained writing tutors, we'll help you think beyond the box and build connections beyond where you expect them to be.
Lastly, there will be a brief discussion of the results. Handout of worksheets designed refine the topic through Google and library searches, and follow-up emails to faculty.
Please come join us for this valuable chance to make connections and refine your topic. Whether you are a freshman, sophomore, or junior, this workshop will help you lay the foundation to keep working and thinking on your project.
