Project Description:

The SFIS Undergraduate Research Fellows (SURF) Program is designed to give undergraduate students across ASU a chance to develop research and critical thinking skills by contributing to a research project on a science & society topic. Come gain research experience – and earn a stipend or research credits! This semester, we invite students to work with faculty on researching topics as diverse as body modifications, smart cities, self-driving cars, food allergies, and preparing for heat disasters. Through the Undergraduate Research Fellows program, you will have the opportunity to develop strong research skills and present your findings at an end-of-semester research symposium. Research Fellows can choose to receive a stipend ($1200 per semester) or research credit (2 credits per semester). You will be expected to spend 5-7 hours per week as a Research Fellow, including a weekly meeting with your faculty mentor.
