Residence Life staff members are an important part of our residential college team. Both professional and student staff members live in the halls and help to create a fun and safe learning environment.
There are eight professional full-time Community Directors (CDs) dedicated to the Barrett Residential Life community. These Master’s level professionals supervise the Community Assistant (CA) staff, advise student organizations, and meet with students to support their academic and personal success.
Both the Barrett Honors Complex as well as Barrett @ Vista also have an Assistant Director. These two full-time staff members supervise the CDs and work closely with Barrett’s administration to provide a comprehensive residential college experience.
Community Assistants (CAs) are upper-division students who serve as resources for the students within the residence halls. CAs serve as an important resource to honors students living on-campus by ensuring the safety of the residents, performing many of the necessary administrative duties in the residence halls, and fostering an engaging living and learning environment through various events and programs.
Peer Mentors are student leaders who reside within our Freshmen Barrett Business, Barrett Engineering, and Barrett Herberger communities. Peer Mentors communicate and execute the overall Barrett residential college programming calendar, while working with college leadership in Barrett and the major to incorporate and plan academic college-specific programming. Peer Mentors also serve as student leaders in the Barrett @ Vista residential community, working with Barrett leadership to promote community development and academic/professional development programming. Peer Mentors also serve off-campus students, helping to connect them to the Barrett community, opportunities, and resources for success.
