The Barrett Honors College highly encourages its students to enhance their educational experience by traveling. Travel and study in the United States and beyond expand students’ global perspective and add knowledge and awareness they cannot receive with just a basic university education. Our goal is to make all of our students embody the values of global citizenship that a holistic education represents. Students who have completed study-travel programs report that it is their most important and meaningful educational experience, one they will remember for the rest of their lives.
Global Intensive Experiences typically last 7-10 days and have program fees around $3000. Summer travel programs last for approximately 3-4 weeks and students can earn up to six honors credits. All of Barrett's programs are led by experienced faculty and staff and uphold Barrett Community Standards on the trip. You can expect a high-quality academic experience on our trips and going on a group trip will mean access to cultural experiences that would be difficult to get as an individual traveler.

The Barrett Travel Scholarship
Each academic year, Barrett awards a limited number of need-based scholarships to students participating in a Barrett Global Intensive Experience (GIE) or summer travel program. The scholarship is open to any Barrett student on all campuses with full-time enrollment status and a cumulative GPA of 3.25.
Students must also remain in good standing with the university: suspension, dismissal or withdrawal from ASU prior to the end of the semester will automatically revoke this scholarship and students may be liable to repay any funds disbursed from this scholarship for that semester.
In order to receive this scholarship, students must be enrolled in a Barrett GIE or Barrett summer travel program for the 2021-2022 academic year. Students must apply for a Barrett travel program through the ASU Global Education Office.
The Barrett Travel Scholarship will be open for applications until Jan. 15, 2022. Students must apply for the Barrett Travel scholarship online. If a travel program is not open for enrollment, please identify the GIE or summer program you intend to apply for on the scholarship application.
