Admissions overview

We invite ASU Online students with varying intellectual and professional interests from all backgrounds and majors to consider joining Barrett, The Honors College. There is no single type of Barrett student and no “typical” honors experience. The free Barrett application allows and invites a student to share their unique story.
The motivation to pursue Barrett enrollment is different for everyone. However, successful honors college students are often those who wish to challenge themselves academically, are interested in the unique opportunities and resources Barrett provides, and value the support offered by the welcoming honors college community.

When to apply

There is no minimum GPA requirement for admission. Barrett acceptance decisions are non-binding.

Prospective students may apply only once to Barrett for any given semester (e.g. fall 2024). Students who receive disappointing news may reapply for a future semester so long as they still meet the eligibility requirements listed below.

Barrett Online is for students in an ASU Online undergraduate degree program who meet the following criteria:

How to apply

Step 1

Mind the deadlines

Prospective students should be mindful of the deadlines and work to ensure that a complete Barrett application is on file by the appropriate date.

Though a Barrett application may be started and even submitted before ASU admission is conferred, it cannot go to evaluation until university acceptance is formally awarded. Apply to ASU accordingly.

Step 2

Apply to ASU

Students interested in Barrett must first apply to Arizona State University and then may begin the separate and free Barrett application.

ASU Admissions Application

When a student applies for ASU admission, an ASURITE ID is issued. Students must then activate their ASURITE ID, which includes identifying a password. The ASURITE ID and password are required to begin the free Barrett application.

Step 3

Submit your Barrett application

Prospective students may apply only once to Barrett for any given semester.

The Barrett application does not need to be completed in one sitting. A student may start, save their work, exit and then return at a later date to finish and submit the application ahead of the appropriate deadline. After starting the application, a student may re-access it via the “Apply now” button.

For the best application experience, use the most current version of your internet browser.
