Student Life at Barrett Online

Community

Barrett Online students live around the United States and across the world, forming a diverse and inclusive community of honors scholars. A Faculty Film Series, collecting “Barrett Bucks” to score exclusive college gear and a mailed welcome kit are just a few of the ways Barrett helps each student feel strongly connected to the online honors experience.

Each new student meets with the deans, faculty and staff of the college at Barrett’s welcome and orientation program, connecting them with their peers from day one. Breakout sessions with honors advising, Barrett faculty and student engagement staff further reinforce a sense of belonging.

Communication resources

Students who are admitted to Barrett Online have many ways to stay connected to college and communicate with their classmates.

Events

Barrett Online students enjoy a wide array of unique honors-only activities. These can be academic, social or cultural in nature. A few examples include:

  • “Dinner with the Deans”

  • the semiannual Rest and Relax event before final exams
  • our Signature Event - The Gold Standard Awards
  • and much more!

Student organizations

The Forge is Barrett’s online student organization. The Forge provides a relaxed environment for student engagement through conversation, games, and virtual gatherings. Though this virtual organization is affiliated with and mainly serves the Barrett community, The Forge encourages all active ASU students to join one of its membership tiers: Barrett and Non-Barrett. Non-Barrett members can engage with honors students and learn about the enrollment benefits at Barrett, The Honors College.
