Barrett Tutoring Centers

Barrett Mathematics Center

The Barrett Mathematics Center offers free one-to-one mathematics tutoring, exam study sessions and other workshops, exclusively for Barrett Honors students. Tutoring services are offered in Honors Hall 240 (Tempe) or virtually through Zoom for Barrett students on all four ASU campuses. The center is designed for students enrolled in 100- and 200-level MAT and STP courses, but students in higher-level math courses and math-intensive science, accounting and engineering courses can also seek support at the center.

The Barrett Mathematics Center is directed by Honors faculty and staffed by Honors students who have completed extensive math and science coursework, have received training to work as math tutors, and excel in the courses they tutor.

Barrett Writing Center

The Barrett Writing Center (BWC) offers free one-to-one writing tutoring exclusively for Barrett Honors students. The BWC is designed for students enrolled in the Honors College's core classes: the first-year seminar known as The Human Event (HON 171, HON 272) and the upper-division seminar for students entering Barrett later in their academic career, The History of Ideas (HON 370). Tutors are also equipped to help Barrett students with scholarship applications and their Honors Thesis, a long-term project that Barrett students are required to complete in order to graduate.

The Barrett Writing Center is directed by Honors faculty and staffed by Honors students who have completed the Human Event/History of Ideas classes and received training to work at the BWC. The BWC offers both in-person and Zoom appointments, with physical locations on the Tempe and Downtown campuses. Barrett students on any campus, including ASU Online students, can take advantage of our tutoring services. Utilizing the BWC while completing Barrett’s rigorous coursework not only lightens the load, but also helps Barrett students develop, enhance and retain lifelong writing skills.
