Career Development

Barrett, The Honors College prepares students for success beyond graduation and a rapidly developing workforce by connecting them with internships, experiential learning, career resources, and professional development opportunities throughout their academic journey. Students can earn honors credit for professional field experiences, receive a bi-monthly Internship and Research Roundup newsletter featuring internships, research opportunities, and career resources, and participate in workshops, employer information sessions, and career coaching offered through Barrett and in partnership with ASU Career Services.

Barrett welcomes companies and organizations with internship programs to engage with the Honors College.

Barrett, The Honors College, is a highly regarded honors college within ASU that offers an enriched academic experience for high-achieving undergraduate students. Over 7,000 students study at five campuses: Tempe, Polytechnic, West Valley, Downtown and ASU Barrett Online. Our students major in any degree offered by Arizona State University and are excellent candidates for internship and research experiences. Students have the option to take course credit while engaging in an internship through the Honors College, HON 484 or internship credit in the department of their academic majors. Barrett welcomes companies and organizations with internship programs to engage with the Honors College.

With honors student representation in all ASU Colleges and majors we encourage a diversity of companies and organizations to consider Barrett students for internship experiences. Honors students are a valuable asset to any workforce, bringing advanced critical thinking skills, strong academic credentials, and a proven ability to solve complex, real-world problems.

Requirements to arrange for an intern

Be legally incorporated with an organized internship program.
Internships may be offered as remote, hybrid or in person to students.
Offer work that directly relates to an intern’s degree program in a meaningful way.
Develop a timeline for the internship and specify the required hours per week.
Write a clear job description outlining responsibilities and expectations.
Identify a supervisor who will handle application paperwork, timesheets, and evaluations.
